BARBARA GRIGGS has been studying and writing about alternative medicine for the last 25 years. She is Health Editor for Country Living and freelances regularly for newspapers including The Evening Standard and The Daily Mail. Among the 13 plus books she has published are The Food Factor (Viking), a history of nutrition; and Green Pharmacy: A History of Western Herbal Medicine. Acknowledged as the standard work on the subject, Green Pharmacy is used as a course book at schools of herbal medicine around the world. Her latest books include SuperFoods, Super Fast and Superfoods for Babies & Children, both co-authored with Michael van Straten and published by DK. Barbara is currently writing a new book on herbal medicine.

Biography

Barbara Griggs has been researching and writing about herbal medicine for over 20 years. She is the author of Green Pharmacy: A History of Herbal Medicine, first published in 1981, and recently revised and republished as New Green Pharmacy (Vermilion, 1997). Acknowledged as the standard work on the subject, Green Pharmacy is used as a course book at schools of herbal medicine around the world.

Barbara Griggs is also the author of Reinventing Eden (Quadrille) and The Home Herbal: A Handbook of Simple Remedies, first published in 1982 as a Pan paperback and completely revised and updated for new editions in 1985 and 1995. She has also published Green Witch: A Modern Woman's Herbal, first published by Vermilion in 1993, and enduringly popular both here and in the United States: it has been translated into Polish, German and Dutch. Her latest book if Superfoods for Babies and Children, co-authored with Michael van Straten (DK, 2006).

Barbara Griggs has written a number of other books on health and complementary medicine, including the popular Superfoods series including the recently published Superfoods for Babies & Children and Super Foods, Super Fast for Dorling Kindersley which she co-authors with Michael van Straten. She has been Health Editor of Country Living since its launch in 1986, and she also lectures and freelances, and has appeared on a number of radio and TV programmes. She has also written a regular column on alternative health for The Sun newspaper.

Barbara is currently writing a book on herbal medicine.
