Fiona Phillips is announced as presenter of new Channel 5 primetime topical, shopping show 'Shop Smart Save Money' produced by True North.
The right-up-to-the-minute series filmed inside a Yorkshire shopping centre will bring viewers trolley-loads of cash-saving tips and tricks – helping them make sense of all the confusing deals and offers out there. Every week the show challenges two competing Savvy Shoppers to save some serious cash on a family’s weekly shop. And it lifts the lid on big-name brands as it uncovers the best – and worst – value products on the market.
Speaking about her new role, Fiona said "I’ve always been intrigued by how brands work and how they get us to part with our cash – so I can’t wait to get under the skin of some of our best-loved products and find out if they really do deliver on price and their promise."
Gaby Roslin joins Fiona as presenter, with added insight from roving consumer reporter Alexis Conran and money expert Andy Webb.
Channel 5 Commissioner Daniel Pearl commented: “We all know how squeezed family budgets are at the moment so there’s never been a better time for a show that does the hard work and brings the viewers the best, bang-up-to-the-minute deals and bargains.”
True North Creative Director Jess Fowle commented: ‘We’re really excited to be making this entertaining and ambitious show for Channel 5. There’s a real demand for straight-talking, non-preachy consumer content and we can’t wait to bring it to the nation’s shoppers’
