Queen of cakes Mary Berry switched on Bath’s Christmas lights on 12th November to an audience of hundreds who had turned out to watch the event.
Mayor of Bath Councillor Malcolm Lees told Mary, in front an audience packed into Milsom Street, that she was to be given the Freedom of the City.
Speaking after the switch-on Mary said being asked to be a Freeman of the City had been a surprise but something she was very proud to receive:
“It was an immediate yes to switch on the lights and to become a Freeman of the City. I was born here, I went to school here, I was married here so I think I qualify.
“I love Bath and my heart is always in Bath.”
Mary will be presented with the award in a ceremony at Bath Abbey in June.
